'Preliminary Oratorical Contest' Program
Description
A program from the Preliminary Oratorical Contest held in Marsh Hall on January 25th, 1907. The contest included several students performing piano and vocal solos, story telling, as well as orations. The participants were listed as Acting Director of the Conservatory and Instructor in Piano, Miss Wilma Waggener '04, Music Conservatory students, Miss Maud Shannon and Miss Katheryn Shannon, Professor of English and Public Speaking, F. W. Orr, Miss Ethel Moseley '07, Miss Frances B. Clapp '08 and Mr. William E. Gwynn '10. The winner of the contest was Mr. Gwynn whom was awarded $15 and a gold P. Gwynn also qualified to represent Pacific University in McMinnville for the inter-collegiate contest that was held in March of 1907. This program appears in a scrapbook compiled by Frances B. Clapp.
