Description
In a speech, U.S. Congressman Les AuCoin advocated for H.R. 7158 before the Subcommittee on Administrative Law and Government Relations of the Committee on the Judiciary, on June 14, 1978. Congressman AuCoin explained how the bill aimed to "provide for the payment of losses incurred as a result of the ban on the use of the chemical TRIS in apparel, fabric, yarn, or fiber." The bill was introduced in the House of Representatives, but never came to a vote. AuCoin served in the Oregon House of Representatives (1971-1975) and in the United States House of Representatives from Oregon's 1st District (1975-1993).
