Hillsboro Horse Fair
Title
Hillsboro Horse Fair
Description
Sepia-toned image of horses being sold in downtown Hillsboro. A great number of men and horses fill the plank road between buildings on Main Street. Buggies and carriages are visible, and power poles line both sides of the street with power lines paralleling and crisscrossing the road. A 1 cent postage stamp with a postmark from Hillsboro is affixed to the back.
[Front] Horse Fair, Hillsboro Ore. Apr. 29, 1911. [Back] Miss Angie Harrington, Rockaway, Oregon. Tillamook Co. Dear Angie -- got home alright. Train was about 1/2 hr. late. Had two small slides. Didn't amount to much. I felt good after I got as far as Enright. Had 5 cars. Put one an[illegible] extra one [sic]. Train was jammed. I guess you have seen the Argus. See about [illegible] Office in Fisher. Still raining here. Was just going to telephone for me to come home. Glad I went. Amanda. [pen] Horse Fair, Hillsboro, Ore. April 29, 1911.
