Banner Dry Goods
Title
Banner Dry Goods
Description
Black and white image of a store with people standing on the covered porch. The single-story building has a covered porch running down the front, and two double entrance doors, each bracketed by large paned display windows. Eleven people stand along the porch; five are men, three wearing long coats, Gatsby's or newsboy style hats. One man wears a short jacket, and the man in the middle of the group of people wears a three piece suit with a bow tie and a bowler hat. A child with a bonnet and long dress stands in the open doorway of the store. Four girls in short dresses stand in front of the second section of the store; one wears a cape, a tam-o'-shanter, and gloves, the girl next to her has a short coat and a scarf. The girls at the end of the row wear short coats and flat hats; one has a muff for her hands. The woman in the middle of the group has a long dress, a dark cape, and a scarf wrapped around her head. There is snow on the street in front of them, and a bicycle leans against one of the porch railings. A sign stating 'Banner Store!!' [sic] extends from the gable above the main body of the store. The windows bear the legends 'Groceries,' 'Queens ware,' 'Hats and Caps,' and 'Dry Goods.' Three concrete hitching posts sit in the street.
