Verne McKinney and Clif Bagley were from Hillsboro, Oregon, where McKinney's mother was a printer who owned a half interest in the Argus, a local newspaper, and Bagley's father was a circuit court judge. Bagley Park, in Hillsboro, is named for the senior Bagley.
