Georgia Patterson, the governor's wife, sits next to him in the back seat, and a young woman in a ball gown and crown stands beside the car. Patterson was appointed to serve out the term of his predecessor, Douglas McKay, in 1952, then ran and was elected in his own right in 1954. He died suddenly in 1956.
