Strawberry pickers
Title
Strawberry pickers
Description
Black and white image centered on three young girls picking strawberries in a field. The girls kneel in the rows as they fill wooden crates with berries. One girl wears glasses; all three wear jeans and short-sleeved button up shirts fastened all the way up to the neck in the front. Behind them other workers pick strawberries, A shaded stand sits in the upper middle of the image. Museum records do not identify either the farm or its location, nor do they identify the young women, but the landscape is very typical of Washington County. This photo was part of the Herbert McMullen bequest. McMullen was a local photographer who, in addition to taking his own photographs, collected images that depicted daily life in the area.
