Wedding party in Catholic Church
Title
Wedding party in Catholic Church
Description
Black and white image of a wedding party arrayed at the front of a Catholic church. Candelabras, large floral arrangements, and statuary fill the image behind the group. The bride wears a floor length dress with a large 'V' shaped collar and elaborate beading and lace at the neck. A short lace overskirt hangs from the waist of her dress and she holds a bible and a large flower in her hands. Her three bridesmaids wear matching dresses with cap sleeves, square necklines, and long skirts that have been gathered at the bottom to show an underlying ruffle. They wear long gloves and hold bouquets of daisies. Three of the women have curly, shoulder length hair pulled back at their temples and rolled bangs. The groom and his two groomsmen wear dark suits with bow ties and boutonnieres. This image is part of the Herbert E. McMullen bequest. McMullen was a local photographer; he owned Hillsboro Studio and also collected photographs taken in the area by other photographers.
