Unidentified woman in American Red Cross uniform
Title
Unidentified woman in American Red Cross uniform
Description
Black and white image of a woman in a military-style uniform, most likely from World War II. Her forage cap bears a cross pin front and center, and a large badge with a cross centered inside is on her lap. Her collar has stripes and the letters 'A. R. C.' pinned on each side. The American Red Cross provided vital services to U. S. Servicemen overseas as well as running blood drives, civil defense, and other types of programs at home. Museum records do not identify the woman, but the image is part of the Herbert E. McMullen bequest. McMullen was a local photographer who also collected images of local life from other photographers.
